Bail hearing set for man charged in Richmond E-Bike incident

A man is facing five charges after allegedly smashing a truck into Richmond E-Bike in November.

A man who allegedly stole a truck and smashed in the storefront of Richmond E-Bike will be back in court at the end of February for a bail hearing.

Joey Antoine Maillet is facing five charges in connection with the incident.

He faces one count of break and enter, one count of motor vehicle theft and three counts of mischief to property over $5,000.

Maillet is scheduled to appear in Vancouver Provincial Court for the bail hearing on Feb. 26.

Richmond E-Bike owner Tram Pham received an alert from her alarm company on Nov. 15, 2024 at 2:30 a.m. and quickly checked her cameras where she could see the truck allegedly ramming into the front of her store.

Pham quickly called the police who responded immediately.

Richmond RCMP said they arrived to find a truck backed into Richmond E-Bike, located off No. 6 Road on Maycrest Way. They set up a "containment area" and were able to arrest the suspect.

Maillet is also facing charges from other incidents, including a charge of motor vehicle theft in Vancouver in January.
