Arts council urges people to shop until they drop in Richmond

A Richmond arts organization starved of provincial and municipal funding is inviting everyone to help support the arts by taking part in a fun charity-shopping weekend.

A Richmond arts organization starved of provincial and municipal funding is inviting everyone to help support the arts by taking part in a fun charity-shopping weekend.

The Community Arts Council of Richmond (CACR) Phoenix Perennials and Specialty Plants is hosting the weekend to benefit the CACR on Sept. 17 and 18 at their No. 6 Road nursery.

If you buy something at the nursery that weekend between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and tell them youre there to support CACR, they will gift 25 per cent of the purchase to the organization.

The CACR is a charitable organization that supports local artists. CACRs galleria, which showcased the artists work, shut down in June due to lack of funds.

The nursery is at 3380 No. 6 Rd., between Cambie and Bridgeport roads, with lots of free parking.
