Applications are now open for Richmond's 2022 to 2023 recreation fee subsidy.
The Recreation Fee Subsidy Program (RFSP) provides financial support for Richmondites of all ages who are in financial hardship to participate in a variety of recreation activities.
In particular, participants can receive free admission to select drop-in programs and services, as well as a 90 per cent discount on most registered programs. Children and youth who are 18 years old or under can receive up to a maximum of $300 per year, and adults and seniors get up to $100 per year.
To qualify for the RFSP, you must live in Richmond and satisfy one of the two following conditions: you either receive government financial assistance, or you are in financial hardship but do not receive government financial assistance.
Four ways are available for submitting the application:
- Email to [email protected]
- Mail to "Recreation Fee Subsidy Program, Community Services Division, 5599 Lynas Lane, Richmond, BC, V7C 5B2"
- To the City Hall Drop Box at 6911 No. 3 Road, located outside City Hall on the west side of the building
- In-person at any City of Richmond recreation facility or the Richmond Cultural Centre
Since financial situations can change over time, all applicants need to re-apply each year.
The subsidy will be valid from Sept.1, 2022 to Aug. 31, 2023. More details and the application form can be found on the program's website.
