Grant funding program in Richmond accepting applications

Richmond's Neighbourhood Celebration Grant Program is for community groups to create events to build connections.

Richmond community groups and associations can once again apply for the city’s Neighbourhood Celebration Grant Program.

The program provides funding up to $2,500 to support initiatives that aim to build connections between residents through community events.

Richmond-based neighbourhood groups, not-for-profit community groups, parent advisory committees, community associations and student councils can apply for the grant.

Examples of events eligible for the grants include block parties, community picnics and cultural celebrations.

Submissions for event proposals must meet the following criteria:

  • Event must demonstrate alignment with the program objectives.
  • Event must be inclusive and demonstrate engagement of community members from diverse backgrounds.
  • Applicants must show evidence of capacity to host the event.
  • Project approach must show a realistic estimate of resources needed and total budget required.
  • Project must demonstrate commitment to incorporate sustainability initiatives.
  • Event must take place prior to December 31, 2022.
  • Event must be held in Richmond.

“We’re thrilled to re-launch the City of Richmond’s Neighbourhood Celebration Grant Program,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie.

“This program supports a number of Council priorities including building local capacity by investing in community-driven events; providing opportunities for Richmond residents and community groups to collaborate, contribute and participate; and maximizing social benefits to the community by fostering volunteerism and increasing sense of community pride and belonging.” 

Deadline for submissions is May 23, 2022.
