Steveston Sound and Stage raised funds for B.C. flood victims and boosted community spirits this past Christmas Eve.

A Steveston business has raised nearly $1,900 for the victims of the devastating B.C. floods.

Alex Sagert of Steveston Sound and Stage said a total of $1,890 was raised during the Dec. 24, 2021 initiative.

The donations were made through the Canadian Red Cross as Sagert had registered as a fundraiser.

In an effort to brighten residents’ Christmas Eve and raise the funds, Steveston Sound and Stage had decked out a truck and trailer with lights, a Santa decoration and Christmas music, which slowly wound its way through Steveston for around two hours that evening.

Sagert said the night was “awesome,” with many residents coming out of their homes and “just having a really good time.”

“It started snowing halfway through, so that made it even more special,” he said.

“(I) can’t express how thankful we are for the donations for the flood victims.”
