Ageless Volunteerism gets job done at Richmond Food Bank

Since its launch last month, Ageless Volunteerism at the Richmond Food Bank has successfully attracted a corps of past and new volunteers to help on Saturdays with the myriad of chores at the food bank.

Ageless Volunteerism provides supportive volunteer opportunities for seniors who prefer a less hectic work environment. Just as important, Ageless Volunteerism fosters intergenerational activities where students and seniors work together and enjoy a social hour around a shared nutritious lunch.

Funding from United Way of the Lower Mainland, Richmond Community Foundation and Green Shield of Canada Foundation supports this initiative for seniors who want to contribute to their community by volunteering in a meaningful way.

The Richmond Food Bank is working towards implementing a Seniors Cooking Club that will prepare hearty meals to serve at the Saturday volunteer program, hopefully beginning early in the New Year.
