The bright sunny days are long gone as cloudy and wet weather is here to stay for the rest of the week in Richmond.

Rain will begin around noon and end late on Monday evening. Winds are expected to pick up late this afternoon near the water with temperature as high as 9C, according to Environment Canada.

Tuesday will be mainly cloudy with showers of about 5 millimetres in the morning.

Strong winds of up to 90km/h are expected in the earlier half of the day and will calm down to 60km/h by noon with temperatures reaching a high of 13C and a low of 9C.

The wet weather doesn’t stop there as rain is expected Wednesday through Sunday. A 60 per cent chance of showers is in the forecast for Thursday and Friday and a 70 per cent chance on Saturday.

Showers from Saturday will continue to Sunday.

Temperatures will reach a high of 9C and a low of 3C over the weekend.

The weather agency released a special weather statement early Monday morning.

In the statement, gusts of wind of up to 90km/h are possible for Tuesday morning as a result of a “fast moving cold front” crossing the south coast near the Strait of Georgia and Haro Strait.

However, the agency has since ended the special weather statement.
