Mid-Autumn celebration activities are being held at Richmond’s Gateway Theatre this Sunday.
The theatre is hosting two sessions of festivities where there will be an audio reading of a story titled The Legend of Whooshhh on Sept. 24.
The story which talks about three chum salmon heading upstream from the ocean to their home while enduring friendships and creating new connections, will kick off the event.
There will also be lantern-making and Mid-Autumn-themed crafts and visitors will be given a mooncake to eat or take home.
“The Mid-Autumn Festival honours the full harvest moon as a symbol of prosperity, togetherness, and homecoming,” said Yanting Qiu, community engagement producer at Gateway Theatre.
“Families gather to share food, admire the full moon, light lanterns, and enjoy mooncakes.”
The first session is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. with doors opening at 9:15 a.m. and the second session at 1 to 2:30 p.m. with doors opening at 12:15 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for those ages three and up. Free admission for children two and under.
