The 13th annual Richmond Maritime Festival returns for a two-day celebration of nautical and natural splendour.

Visit the waterside festival at Britannia Shipyards on Aug. 6 and 7 and enjoy a flotilla of historic boats and ships, a full crew of colourful creatures from above and below the sea, live music, roving performers, visual artists, stilt walkers, puppets, storytellers, dancers, and food trucks.

The festival is fun for the whole family and features various arts and crafts activities, storytelling, wooden boat displays, a variety of nautical demonstrations and live entertainment.

A Saturday night concert will be held on the YVR Community Stage, with folk/rock/alternative country band headliners, The Matinee, and also featuring The Myrtle Family, a multi-disciplinary group of local artists who play with the theatrics of clown, dance and music.

Admission to the concert and festival is free.

This year, the Richmond Maritime Festival’s poster illustration has been created by local resident, Brenda Clark, a Richmond-based architect and artist who is actively involved in the Richmond arts scene.

The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7.
