The Songs of Summer concert will be held outside at the Gateway Theatre Grove.

Gateway Theatre's popular summer outdoor concerts are back this year, with music, dancing, and fun and games.

Songs of Summer includes an afternoon and an evening show that will take place in Gateway Theatre Grove on August 27.

Richmondites are invited to spread out their picnic blankets and settle into their low lawn chairs just outside the theatre, and enjoy the performances with snacks from the concessions stand. The concerts will be held inside the theatre in the event of inclement weather.

The family-friendly afternoon show will run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and it will feature dance-worthy performances by B.C.-born DJ Miss Sparklez and 12-year-old performer Rickie Wang. The audience will also enjoy an afternoon of fun and games and storytelling led by members of the Gateway Academy, as well as an arts activity led by local artist Laara Cerman.

The evening show runs from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., and features an upbeat Motown set by award-winning local musician Krystle Dos Santos and her three-piece band. Attendees of the evening performance will be able to purchase alcoholic beverages from the concession stand.

Tickets for the two performances are sold separately, and early bird tickets are now available until July 31 at gatewaytheatre.com/songs-of-summer.
