Artist's rendering of planned Steveston Community Centre

Richmondites will get to contribute to an 80-foot artwork wrapping around the construction site for the new Steveston Community Centre and Library.

Local graphic designer and lettering artist Lisa Taniguchi is leading a series of interactive family-friendly activities open to participants of all skill levels to include the stories and experiences of Richmond residents.

A large poster will be put up at the Steveston Community Centre and Library's multipurpose room on Sunday, April 2 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. for community members to write and draw their stories.

Richmondites will also get to create their own Steveston flags on April 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. Registration is encouraged but drop-ins are also welcome if space permits.

Registration is available online, by phone at 604-276-4300 from Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., and in person at any city community facility.

Others wishing to contribute to the artwork can respond to Taniguchi's prompts and questions on @CityofRichmondBC on Facebook and Instagram, or draw or write their stories on the display in the Steveston Community Centre and Library lobby from March 30 to April 7.

The final artwork will be installed at the site by July 1, 2023. For more information, visit LetsTalkRichmond.
