The new $90-million Steveston Community Centre is in the process of being designed.

But here’s a little look back at the original building being constructed back in 1957.

The photo from deep inside the City of Richmond archives department shows the steel supports getting put in place.

The Richmond News reported earlier this year how an architect and builder had been chosen to design and rebuild the new Steveston Community Centre and library.

The 60,000-square-foot facility will be about one-third larger than the current community centre on Moncton Street.
