UNTIL DEC. 9

Solo Exhibition of Watercolor paintings by Naoki Totsuka

The theme of the exhibition is "the charm of Japanese style buildings through my eyes as a Japanese person." The warmth of Japanese culture, filled with the elements of "gentleness" and "healing," is subtly yet unmistakably expressed by Totsuka's watercolour painting method, which is a style he has developed on his own over the years.

Opera Pro Cantanti at Minoru Chapel

Opera Pro Cantanti presents a program of seasonal music by the great opera composers.

Specially selected pieces such as Gounod's Ave Maria, Adam's O Holy Night, and music from Handel's Messiah will be sure to enhance your holiday season.

A surprising number of opera composers lent their talents to compositions for the Christmas season. Our program will delight you with music that is familiar to us as seasonal music, yet not normally associated with the opera stage, or operatic music that has an unexpected seasonal connection.

Opera Pro Cantanti (which translates to "Opera for the Singers") is Canada's only repertory opera company.

Almost every week, this volunteer-run organization presents fully staged performances of major operas such as Verdi's La Traviata, Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor and Bellini's Norma. Its professional and emerging talents include some of the best singers in the region whose technical ability, artistry and expressiveness rival those of singers on the great stages.

Performances will be at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $18 for students/ seniors. Doors open 30 minutes before the show.

Call 604-276-4300 or visit www.richmond.ca/minoruchapel for more information.
