That's why they're encouraging people to donate blood at the Canadian Blood Services Bloodmobile that's coming to the Richmond Library and Cultural Centre Jan. 11 from 9 a.m. - 3: 15 p.m. Donors are asked to book their appointment in advance. To register to donate blood or to find out if you're eligible call 1 888 2 DONATE (1-888-236-6283). There are a few basic requirements for blood donation: You must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 lbs., and be in generally good health and feeling well. ID is also required.

Richmond Public Library and Literacy Richmond are partnering with Kwantlen Polytechnic University to offer a program for parents wanting to gain workplace skills. The Learning Together program combines family reading readiness with adult workplace literacy into an all-in-one program. It runs Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Kids Place Program Room at Brighouse branch. The program is free and drop-in, although it's suggested participants attend regularly. Touchstone's Restorative Justice Program in collaboration with Peace of the Circle is pleased to announce training in Peacemaking Circles with Dr. Evelyn Zellerer.
