Black Bond Books Lansdowne Centre hosts the WARM COAT DRIVE. The staff will be collecting warm coats for the food bank during October. Last year, they collected 450 coats. We all have warm clothes in our closet of all sizes, so why not donate them to a good cause! Black Bond Books also collects used books for the food bank. Black Bond Books will have 15 tables of books with partial proceeds to the Richmond Food Bank. For more information, call 604-233-0004.

The Richmond Nature Park will hold a sale of fresh cranberries on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bulk local cranberries will be available while quantities last. Cranberries, the "miracle fruit" of the bog are rich in vitamins and loaded with beneficial elements. They'll keep fresh in the fridge for weeks and are practically indestructible in the freezer. Proceeds will benefit the Richmond Nature Park Society.

The Richmond Photography Club would like to invite photographers of all skill levels to join them for upcoming meetings every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. The club meets at 7: 30 p.m. at the Richmond Cultural Centre in the upstairs painting room. There are guest lecturers, judges, demonstrations, field trips and exhibitions throughout the city to showcase our work. New members and guests are always welcome. The Richmond Gogos present their second Annual Gala Evening- Hand in Hand with African Grandmothers, in support of the Stephen Lewis Foundation's Grandmother to Grandmother Campaign that assists AIDS victims and the grandmothers who are raising AIDS orphans in sub-Saharan Africa. The Gala will take place on Thursday Oct. 13 from 5: 30 to 9: 30 p.m. at the Richmond Curling Club, 5540 Hollybridge Way. You will enjoy a wonderful meal, entertainment, a marketplace that includes our own crafts, Kazuri jewellery made in Africa, children's baskets and a live auction. Tickets are $40.
