Writing contest winners, runners-up receive publicity, prizes

The Richmond News Youth Writing Contest invited students in Grades 8-12 to write a 400600-word newspaper article in the style of Danielle Aldcorn's Family Function column (pictured).

The Richmond News Youth Writing Contest invited students in Grades 8-12 to write a 400600-word newspaper article in the style of Danielle Aldcorn's Family Function column (pictured). The entries were judged by Aldcorn and the News' editor Eve Edmonds.

The winners, each of whom are having their article published in the News, were: Liam Donaldson, Grade 11; Daniel Khoshaba, Grade 12; Hayley Montes, Grade 10; and Tristan Taylor, Grade 11.

The second of the winning columns is published, above, from Tristan. Runners-up: were: Elena Madorsky, Grade 8; George Zhang, Grade 12; Gina Fung, Grade 10; Nico Hernandez, Grade 11; Derek Zeng, Grade 10; and Anna Takeuchi, Grade 10.
