Catch five distinctly different live performances Friday evening at Gilmore Park United Church’s annual Dream Catchers Concert to raise funds and awareness for the new Seniors Rent Bank run by non-profit Chimo Services.

In this year’s line-up will be: Paul Verheyen (singer); Miri Lee (pianist); The Re: Sisters (choral); the Hugh Boyd New Orleans Style Jazz Band and the Richmond Singers Ensemble.

The event starts at 7 p.m. on Feb. 12 at the church on No. 1 and Blundell roads. Tickets, costing $15, include a dessert reception and are available in the church office or at the door.

Olympic memories were forged at the Richmond Oval during the 2010 Winter Games. And on Saturday, Olympic dreams will be started for a group of dedicated, speed skaters of all ages as the Richmond Rockets Speed Skating Club is hosting its Short Track Speed Skating Competition

Warm up starts at 7:30 a.m. and racing runs from 8:30 a.m. -  6 p.m. A total of 168 skaters, aged five to 71 years old, are scheduled to take part.

The free spectator event is the last competition before many of the participants head off to the BC Winter Games Feb. 25 - 28 in Penticton.

Is there a better thing to do than share a nice cuppa with the one you love? Probably not, especially when it’s on Valentine’s Day weekend. The Valentine’s Day tea at London Heritage Farm (6511 Dyke Road) will run Saturday and Sunday from 12 - 5 p.m., you can enjoy the farm’s own blend of tea and scones with London Farm jam/jelly and other home-made goodies served on some fine china.
