1. Midsummer Arts Dream Exhibition: June 16-18: The Community Arts Council of Richmond is inviting the public to attend its 6th Annual Midsummer Arts Dream Exhibition on Friday (June 16).

1. Midsummer Arts Dream Exhibition: June 16-18:

The Community Arts Council of Richmond is inviting the public to attend its 6th Annual Midsummer Arts Dream Exhibition on Friday (June 16). The free exhibition will be held in the Annex building at Thompson Community Centre (5151 Granville Ave.). This exhibition features more than 60 works of art in 2D (flat), including: art, photography, mixed media and textile. All attending will have a chance to vote for their favorite work, which will help to encourage the artists. The opening reception will be held Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. with light refreshments, musical entertainment and an opportunity to meet and speak with the artists present. The show continues on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

 

2. Family Fishing Weekend: June 16-18:

If you are “fishing” around for something to do this weekend, why not try just that – fishing? Berry’s Bait & Tackle in east Richmond (14651 Westminster Hwy.) is holding its Family Fishing Weekend on June 16 – 18 that offers free fishing for kids on Saturday and Sunday. Kids can try their hand at fishing at one of their two trout pools that are loaded with hungry trout. All fishing gear is provided. No registration is required. And there will be free hot dogs and drinks. Fishing on June 17 will run from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and June 18 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. For more information, call 604-270-3097.

 

3. Canada’s 150th with Anne: Sunday, June18:

Dance enthusiasts are invited to help celebrate Canada’s 150th with Anne, Richmond Arts Centre’s second-ever gala-style ballet show with performances from advanced level dancers from the highly popular dance program at 5 p.m. on June 18 at Gateway Theatre (6500 Gilbert Road).
