More than 4,000 children in Richmond took part in the library’s summer reading program, and on Sunday, Sept. 7 there will be a celebration to recognize their accomplishments.
Summer Reading Club participants can get their medal for taking part either at this event or by just dropping by the library after Wednesday, Sept. 3.
The free event on Sunday at the Brighouse branch will include hands-on literacy activities and games.
Local dignitaries and library board trustee will be in attendance.
“B.C. Summer Reading Club encourages kids to read for fun, which helps them build confidence in their reading abilities and develop a more positive attitude toward reading, while at the same time engaging with library staff all summer long,” said Kate Adams, head of Children & Family Services at the Richmond Public Library.
“We hope you’ll join us in recognizing the work and dedication of all of this year’s readers.”
The Summer Reading Club event runs from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and is drop-in with no registration required.
