The Richmond Farm Fest is back in early September after a six-year hiatus.
The Sept. 7 family-friendly festival will celebrate Richmond’s agricultural roots from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the 136-acre Garden City Lands in the heart of the city.
Festival highlights include a Farmers and Artisans Market where Richmond farmers will have locally grown fresh vegetables and fruit for sale and artisans will be selling homemade goodies.
There will be a Culinary Demo Stage presented by Pursuit Kitchen.
Chefs bring farm-to-table inspirations to life with live cooking demonstrations at noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. using fresh, locally grown ingredients.
There will also be a variety of food trucks and local vendors.
The children’s area for “Little Farmers” will include hands-on activities, harvest games and educational fun for kids of all ages.
For those wanting to learn about growing food and sustainable gardening practices, there will be interactive exhibits at the Agricultural and Gardening Displays.
There will be exhibits about Richmond’s farming history and the future of sustainable agriculture as well.
Local musicians and entertainers will be on the community stage.
Kwantlen Polytechnic has created a plant labyrinth of corn and canola plants where attendees can take a meditative walk
KPU will also have a Brew Barn where attendees can sample craft creations from the college’s Brewing & Brewery Operations program.
And to round off the day’s activities, there will be farm wagon tours around the Garden City Lands on an old-fashioned hay wagon that includes information about native plants, local produce and the park’s history.
Attendees are encouraged to walk, cycle or take transit to the event.
A free bike and e-scooter valet service will be available on-site with free parking at KPU (8771 Lansdowne Rd.) and Richmond City Hall (6911 No. 3 Rd.).
There will be continuous shuttle bus service from these locations during the festival from 10:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
