A Steveston eatery is hosting a joint fundraiser on Sunday to support the people of Maui recovering from the Lahaina fire.
Aloha Hawaiian Grill is partnering with Paul Tavai-Latta Dancers & Co. to sell Hawaiian food and showcase Polynesian dance performances from 12 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 27.
Isabel Angeles, one of the owners of Aloha Hawaiian Grill, said they aim to share the state Lahaina is in and help victims of the fire as much as they can.
"With our connection to Hawaii, we want to bring to light what's happening in Lahaina," said Angeles.
"I've been to Lahaina and to see like pictures of it now and knowing places where I've been and ... to see them not there anymore, it's just sad."
All cash donations and 20 per cent of all sales on the day of the event will go toward the Maui Strong Fund.
In addition, all tips made at the eatery until Aug. 30 will be donated as well.
Item donations will also be accepted and delivered to Maui survivors in need including:
- Baby care (diapers, wipes, diaper cream, formula, bottles, baby blankets)
- Pedialyte
- Hygiene items (toothpaste, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, deodorant, tampons, pads)
Aloha Hawaiian Grill is at 110-3900 Bayview St.
