More than 100 participants will be in Richmond this weekend to compete for the fastest time in solving a Rubik's Cube.
Speedcubing Canada is hosting the Warm Up Vancouver 2025 at Richmond's Hilton Vancouver Airport Hotel on June 14 and 15, where 135 speedcubers will solve a 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube and other puzzles as fast as they can.
Competitors representing 14 countries will take part in 11 out of 17 recognized events by the World Cube Association (WCA), the international governing body for speedcubing.
Events include the classic Rubik's Cube, 12-sided Megaminx and the 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube blindfolded.
Among the competitors is Ethan Rusnak, who is recognized as one of B.C.'s top all-rounders and currently holds the B.C. record of 6.28 seconds for the 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube, and is the reigning provincial champion in Megaminx.
This competition is a lead-up to the upcoming Rubik's WCA World Championships in Seattle, scheduled for July 3 to 6.
The biennial event will see more than 2,000 of the world's fastest speedcubers compete for global titles and break records.
