A team of volunteers from Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives (RCRG) was out this week buying groceries on behalf of Richmond seniors.
On Tuesday evenings, PriceSmart opens after hours specifically to cater to the RCRG volunteers who gather the shopping for isolated seniors in the community.
The volunteers are part of the Safe Seniors, Strong Communities program, which was launched last month by the United Way of the Lower Mainland, bc211, BC Seniors Advocate and the B.C. government.
RCRG is one of 24 community organizations across the province providing free, non-medical support services to seniors, including grocery, meal, and prescription delivery and virtual wellness checks.
Seniors can request services by calling 2-1-1, going to BC211.ca, contacting RCRG directly at RCRG.org or calling 604-279-720.
