A Richmond teen has released his second album “So Alive,” but this one features a new voice and a Eurobeat twist.

David Raynolds, a J.N. Burnett student, created a new EP with the help of Murray Yates – a producer and composer – after his voice changed because of puberty since his last released album titled “I Believe in Me.”

Raynolds told the Richmond News that the change in his voice forced him to take a three-year hiatus from music in 2016, but he is back with a “stable voice” and “matured vocal cords.”

“I haven’t made an album in a little bit since I’ve been practicing singing and wanted to perfect myself a bit before I released a new album,” said Raynolds, adding that the time allowed him to understand his voice better.

His album features two original songs The Reason Why and This is the End and three covers, Shallow, Apologize and Dragostea Din Tei.

“So Alive” is “really just about (himself)” because music makes him feel alive, hence the album name.

Songs in the album portrays a young teen’s struggles and successes, which includes a range of emotions involving sadness, strife, happiness and partying.

The Romanian teen wanted to expose others to the Eurobeat genre, which he loves because of the positive and dance-like rhythm and its Romanian heritage ties.

Monica Raynolds, David’s mother, said he loved music since he was one-year old which was when he began playing and composing music on a toy piano.

“He has perfect pitch and was singing since he was a baby,” said Monica, adding that it would bother David when the music wasn’t in tune.

On top of singing, David has been acting in films and shows for roughly 10 years.

Notable shows that he has been on are Netflix’s Travellers, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Lego Ninjago on Cartoon Network.
