Fancy winning a new sports car to round off what has been a challenging year for all concerned?
Well, youth soccer club Richmond FC has that very possibility waiting for you, after it was donated a $35,000, 2019 Fiat Spider by Go Columbia Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram.
For the cost of a $20 raffle ticket, your name could be in the hat for the draw at the end of December.
Proceeds from the raffle will go towards defraying the cost of soccer programs at the club, which has, like most youth sporting organizations, been unable to pull in any revenue to speak of during the pandemic.
The Spider itself will be displayed this Saturday at Hugh Boyd soccer fields, if you want to see it what you might win.
“We sure picked a heck of a year to expand our programming - when the COVID-19 lockdown hit in March, our spring season was cancelled, but Richmond FC, as a club, has shown incredible community spirit to pull through during these tough times, not only intact, but surging,” said RFC’s executive director, Marius Roevde.
“Unlike many clubs, we avoided laying off staff and provided full refunds to all families for the absent spring season, covering all processing costs, because we felt it was the right thing to do to return your money during uncertain times.
“That put the club in a tight financial position, but we were determined to work through it…”
The club has already started selling the 9,000 raffle tickets which, as well as the grand prize of the car, have the chance of winning 10 runners-up prizes of gift cards ranging in value from $100 to $300.
For information on how to enter, email Raffle@Richmondfc.ca and include your full name and mailing address and the number of tickets you would like to purchase. You will be provided with details on how to make payment.
The draw will be held on Sunday Dec. 27.
