If you’re a fan of all things Star Wars and can’t get enough of Krispy Kreme donuts, then an event in Richmond next Friday is the place to be.
To mark the cult following of May the Fourth parties around the world, the Richmond Centre for Disability (RCD) is hosting its own Star Wars-themed May the Fourth Be With You fundraiser, complete with hundreds of Krispy Kreme donuts.
RCD is hosting the event, obviously on Friday, May 4, rain or shine in its parking lot on No. 3 and Lansdowne roads, with all manner of Star Wars fun in the cards, such as bingo and trivia.
As well as the famed donuts, RCD is putting on burgers and refreshments for sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to raise money for the non-profit organization.
“The plan is have a parking lot party with covered tents, just in case it rains,” said event organizer Louise Gaudry, RCD’s career resource coordinator, who’ll be wearing a Star Wars mask on May 4 and says, if she had longer hair, she would have put in some Princess Leia-style twirls.
“As well as on the day, we’re selling the donuts in advance on our website. People can come pick them up on May 4 and maybe get a burger and a drink as well.”
There are also rumours that RCD could be planning a special item on the menu – a burger inside a Krispy Kreme donut, dubbed a “Death Star Donut.”
You can pre-order your donuts ($12 per dozen original glazed) up to and including Monday, April 30 from RCD’s website at RCDrichmond.org.
Door prizes will also be on offer and people are being encouraged to turn out in their favourite Star Wars costumes.
