Seventh year for Richmond mural program

The city is looking to add to 34 murals already painted in public spaces around Richmond.

For the seventh year running, the City of Richmond is looking for space to paint murals.

They are calling for property owners, businesses, stratas and non-profit organizations interested in offering wall space for the 2026 program of community murals.

"The Richmond Community Mural Program connects artists with local partners to transform blank walls into eye-catching public art that reflects Richmond’s unique character and neighbourhoods," the city said in a press release.

Chosen applicants will be notified in early October. City staff will then match them with a pre-qualified artist to create the mural.

Locations must be visually accessible to the public..

Private, single family properties are not eligible.

Since the launch of the program in 2018, there have been 34 murals completed throughout Richmond.

The application deadline is Monday, Sept. 22, and the murals will be completed in 2026.
