On Wednesday night, Richmond’s Community Mental Wellness Association is hoping to educate the public on mental health through an open forum.

The forum, led by a panel of mental health experts, will highlight a variety of topics including anxiety, anger, depression, symptoms, prevention and treatment.

“Research that the social stigma associated with mental health affects considerably communication skills and self-esteem on people,” said Ahlay Chin, founder and executive director of CMWAC in a press release.

“Our objectives are providing education and information for awareness, prevention, early detection, support and treatment. We work towards goals that foster independence and mental wellness.”

The forum is free and will be held on Wednesday, May 16 at the Richmond Public Library’s Brighouse Branch from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
