Although Easter has passed, Richmond’s wildlife rabbits are still enjoying their time outdoors especially at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR).
A YVR employee was greeted by several rabbits “excitedly” playing together as she was leaving work last week.
In one of the photos that were submitted, a rabbit could be seen staring straight at the camera without fear.
“These guys are definitely tame and I’m not sure about whether they were abandoned pets (or not), but their total loss of fear of humans is concerning from a survival standpoint,” said the airport worker.
She told the Richmond News that it was “so hard not to pet them,” especially when one daringly tried to jump up onto her leg as she stopped to take a quick picture.
While the rabbits in the wild are cute, Sorelle Saidman, founder of Richmond’s Rabbitats, is reminding residents not to feed them.
“They’re cute, but it’s not good to feed them, that just makes them have bigger litters,” said Saidman, adding that they are “well-fed already.”
