A Richmondite has transformed the outside of his home into a haunted display to bring Halloween fun to children in a safe way amid the pandemic.
Halloween is still a few days away, but the scary and spooky atmosphere is already in the air in the Dover Road neighbourhood. You will probably be greeted with an eight-foot-tall tall jack o’lantern, scary skeletons holding wine glasses in hand, tombstones and creepy little dolls if you pass by the neighbourhood.
“I don’t want to let the 800 square feet sit there alone. I want to see kids having fun in a safe way,” said Michael Deski, the event host who set up the whole project from scratch. This year, he has converted his traditional Halloween display into a drive-through event due to COVID-19 restrictions.
All of these displays were designed and crafted by Deski, and he pointed the Richmond News reporter to the triple-headed dog display sitting in the corner of his parking lot, saying that decoration cost him more than 40 hours.
“I don’t consider myself an artist, but you need to pay attention to detail,” said Deski, adding that he doesn’t want to make people feel disappointed if the design isn’t good enough.
Deski has been creating a unique front yard of horrors since 1986.
The spooky show at Deski’s house will be open from 7 p.m. on Oct. 30 and all day on Oct. 31. The display is located at 6091 Dover Rd. in Richmond.
