Photos: Richmond welcomes first snowfall of the year

Further dips in temperature are in the forecast for the weekend.

It started with tiny flurries and now the city is covered under a white blanket of snow.

As predicted by weather forecasts, Richmond welcomed the first snowfall of 2024 on Thursday afternoon.

Traffic in Metro Vancouver is currently experiencing delays due to inclement weather, but flights are operating on schedule at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) as of now.

An Arctic outflow warning is in effect and Richmond's two warming centres in Brighouse Park and South Arm Pool are open for those who need a place to stay.

Temperatures in Richmond City Centre are expected to drop to -12C at midnight and get colder until early morning on Friday, when it will be -16C, according to Weatherhood.
