Eight teams from Richmond high schools took part in the all-day competition.

More than 20 Metro Vancouver high school teams competed for the title of scientific supremacy at Kwantlen Polytechnic University's (KPU) Richmond campus this weekend.

The Kwantlen Science Challenge on Nov. 19 had a total of 25 teams, each with five students from Grades 8 to 10, taking part in science-focused challenges throughout the day.

Richmond has eight teams from local schools: two from Richmond Secondary, MacNeill and Palmer secondary schools and one team from both McNair and Burnett secondary schools.

Teams competed in areas of geology, physics, engineering design, math and scientific Jeopardy with scores being based on problem-solving, experimental techniques, concept applications and correct calculations.
