Out and About: Kwantlen Farmers Market offers friendly, outdoor shopping

Local food and other items for sale by KPU farm students.

Summer in Richmond brings excellent farmers’ markets and one of the first to open during the spring is the Kwantlen Farmers’ Market.

The market is open Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. — May 6 to Oct. 28, 2025. It is conveniently located at 7700 Minoru Gate, in front of Richmond’s Brighouse Public Library.

The market showcases the skills developed within the Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s (KPU) Sustainable Agriculture and Farm School programs.

This program teaches new farmers sustainable agricultural practices as well as how to develop their own agricultural businesses.

For sale within the growing season is a wide range of produce, including superbly fresh, locally grown organic lettuce, kale, beets, green onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, berries and herbs.

Also available are baked goods, eggs, plants, honey, preserves, cosmetics and handmade artisanal items such as soap and origami. One vendor even offers a knife and tool sharpening service.

There is plenty of free parking, the site is wheelchair accessible and friendly pets on leash are welcome.
