Congratulations are owed to everyone involved in creating and managing one of the best Halloween-themed exhibitions anywhere.
The well-marked, Pond Trail, contains over 30 inflatable creatures and constructions. Add to this 10 original art installations by Christine Corris-Wingfield and a ghostly Tickle Tunnel and you have a wonderland for children of all ages.
This is another of Richmond’s family-friendly events that combines a respect for nature with an imaginary world reflecting the spooky world of Halloween.
The event runs from Oct. 18 to 27. The park has giant inflated spiders and bats and a huge crow-like bird tucked away in trees and bushes.
Many of the creatures resemble their smaller, less flamboyant namesakes. Others are pure fiction — something out of a computer-generated movie.
A sense of humour enlivens many of the exhibits
Halloween Hoot is a great experience with brilliant staging. My only suggestion is to slightly extend the days for the event — perhaps up to Oct. 30 — to allow more people to attend and enjoy.
Richmond Nature Park is at 11851 Westminster Hwy, at No. 5 Road. On-site parking is limited but generally available on weekdays.
As a bonus, near the Park’s entrance is a well-designed children’s playground.
The Richmond Nature Park Society offers a wide range of programs to our community -- dedicated to nature — through appreciation, education and conservation.
