Let yourself grieve what you need to grieve

Everyone grieves in their own way and in their own time. Be it the loss of a loved one, a friend or acquaintance, the time and space to honour the loss of a soul, to honour their place and meaning in your life is sacred.

Everyone grieves in their own way and in their own time.

Be it the loss of a loved one, a friend or acquaintance, the time and space to honour the loss of a soul, to honour their place and meaning in your life is sacred.

Stacey Mohl was bright, young, healthy, feisty, fun and admirably fearless.

She lived and practiced in Steveston as a professional physiotherapist at Steveston Physiotherapy. Stacey suddenly passed away in her home just last month.

Unable to focus, I left work the day I received the sad news and met up with a good friend for coffee.

I then allowed the day and my feelings to be what they may. Any other way would have felt like I was short-changed.

Over the next few days our running group, most of whom just returned from a 1?2 marathon in Las Vegas, offered mutual consolation amongst the numbed silence.

It felt good to have friends to talk things over, share tears and reminisce.

Most of all I was sad.

Stacey was having fun and enjoying the support of the running group. I wanted to know more and spend more time with Stacey.

I felt the rug was ripped up from beneath my feet.

Sometimes I was angry. How could this happen? It is not fair. It just doesn't make any sense.

I miss Stacey. I offer my condolences to her family.

Although I still have moments of sadness I am grateful Stacey graced my life however briefly.

And I do believe she would want all to carry on - to keep on dancing.

My way of honoring Stacey is to share with you what I have learned from my friend:

Life is too short.

Don't wait.

Do what is important and right for you.
