A young Richmond musician just raised more than $21,000 to improve health care in Richmond.

Tiger Guo, 12, held a charity concert on Oct. 8 at the Norman Rothstein Theatre, where he performed for 2.5 hours for more than 300 attendees.

“The local health care team is essential for the people of the community and have been there providing compassionate care despite all the challenges they have been facing,” said Zhi Yong Guo, Tiger’s dad.

“Tiger wants to show his support in his own way, and we hope this donation will continue to help build a better and healthier future for everyone including children in Richmond.”

Tiger performed a variety of classical and modern Western and Eastern songs with his piano and drums, and he practiced five hours a day in preparation for the concert. Tiger, who has autism, started taking piano lessons when he was eight and soon "developed a tremendous passion" for piano, drums violin and guitar.

“This is an incredible act of kindness from one of the youngest members of our community,” said Spencer Gall, Richmond Hospital Foundation campaign director.

“Thank you to Tiger and his family for your big hearts and supporting our health care teams with this thoughtful and generous gift.”
