The Richmond BC Pickleball Association raised and donated more than $5,000 to the Richmond Food Bank.

From November to December, the association raised $5,790 through donation collection boxes at the outdoor Hugh Boyd and South Arm pickleball courts.

Gordon Farrell, president of the Richmond BC Pickleball Association, said the holiday drive aims to help individuals and families facing food insecurity and raise awareness of the importance of food banks.

"Donating can help raise awareness about food insecurity and its causes, encouraging more people to get involved and support system changes to help alleviate hunger," said Farrell.

"Food banks often provide a compassionate means of assistance, allowing individuals and families to receive food without stigma."

The association has been holding their holiday drive since 2021.
