Kudos: Irish dance competition in Richmond raises funds for food bank

A fundraiser was held in conjunction with an Irish dancing competition in Richmond this past weekend. Surrey competitor Maisy (right) handed over a cheque to the food bank.

More than 500 Irish dancing competitors descended on Richmond this past weekend for two days of competition.

Participants came from as far away as Ontario and Washington.

As part of the event, a charity dance was held with proceeds going to the Richmond Food Bank Society.

More than $1,700 was raised for the local non-profit.

A delegate from the Consulate General of Ireland took part in the weekend event at the Executive Vancouver Airport Hotel, judging the soda bread competition.
