International Dance Day will be celebrated virtually in Richmond this year, and it’s a good thing dance can be observed from anywhere.
Every year on April 29, the day promotes art and culture while raising awareness of different genres of dance around the world.
On Wednesday, Katherine Somody, a long-time ballet instructor at the Richmond Arts Centre, will be holding a mini ballet barre class online for this year’s annual Grand Plié event from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.
International Dance Day was founded by the dance committee of UNESCO’s International Theatre of Institute in 1982 to also celebrate the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, the creator of modern ballet.
