The City of Richmond is entering phase 2 of its Minoru Park Vision Plan and is seeking public input on the future of Richmond’s signature, city centre park.
Two upcoming open houses will offer vision plan options, information boards, activities for all ages and the opportunity to speak with city park planners. The open houses take place:
• Friday, June 23 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Richmond Cultural Centre (7700 Minoru Gate)
• Saturday, June 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Minoru Park (7191 Granville Avenue) on the north side of Clement Track.
In addition, the public can also visit LetsTalkRichmond.ca to find up-to-date information, view the open house boards and complete an online survey available from Friday, June 23 through Sunday, July16 at 11:59 p.m.
The 18 hectare (45 acre) Minoru Park has evolved significantly over time as community needs have shifted. While focusing on the natural park areas, the Vision Plan will reunite all the park features and amenities which include the recently updated Latrace fields, a cricket pitch and the new Minoru Centre for Active Living, scheduled to be complete in 2018, according to the City of Richmond.
Information gathered from phase 2 will build upon phase 1that the public contributed to earlier this year.
Feedback from the two open houses and LetsTalkRichmond.ca will contribute to the development of a long term Minoru Park Vision Plan that will be presented to City Council for approval this fall.
Once approved, the vision plan will guide future development in Minoru Park as priorities are identified and funding becomes available.
