Richmond residents are invited to kick off the BC Day long weekend on Friday with a community picnic where attendees can learn about local non-profit organizations.
The free, family-friendly picnic takes place at London Heritage Farm, 6511 Dyke Rd., on Saturday, Aug. 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Community partners of the event include the Arthritis Society Canada, D.A.R.E. BC, Lions International 19L-A7, Responsible Drug Learning Association, Rotary Club of Richmond Lulu Island, Richmond Hospital Foundation, Save the Children Canada, South Fraser Search and Rescue and the Community Mental Wellness Association Canada.
"BC Day is all about celebrating our province’s spirit and the people who make Richmond such a vibrant community,” said event coordinator Jackie Lee.
“We look forward to seeing families, friends and neighbours come together for a day of fun, food and connection.”
While the event is free, space is limited so organizers are asking people to RSVP.
