The United Way of the Lower Mainland is calling on film producers and change-makers to enter its third annual video competition, Care to Change 2014. The competition asks people to create a three-minute video about one of the social issues the United Way works to prevent - child poverty, bullying amongst school-age children or isolated seniors.

"The entries that we receive demonstrate that people really do have heart and really do care about their neighbours and social issues facing their communities," said Michael McKnight, president and CEO of the United Way Lower Mainland.

"The competition exemplifies United Way's vision of creating healthy, caring and inclusive communities."

Winners receive certificates from Best Buy, a CTV News experience for four, and youth winners will have their video screened as part of the 2014 Vancouver International Film Festival.

The top videos and other select submissions may be made available on Telus Optik TV video on demand service.

Videos can be submitted by individuals or in groups in on of two categories: youth (19 years and younger) and adult. The deadline for entries is Tuesday, Dec. 3. Sponsors for Care to Change 2014 are The Beat 94.5, CTV British Columbia and VISO Give with ReelYouth as a contributing partner. For more information, visit www.caretochange.ca.
