The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies-BC (ACEC) recently announced the winners of the 2012 Awards for Engineering Excellence.

The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies-BC (ACEC) recently announced the winners of the 2012 Awards for Engineering Excellence. Each year, ACEC British Columbia members select the most innovative and technically excellent projects they've worked on.

The City of Richmond was touted for its No. 4 Road drainage pump station.

In the Award of Excellence Municipal category, the drainage pup station won for its many unique features, including its environmentally friendly planted terraces and for its bypass pumping system.

The ACEC is also bringing innovative design on the road with the Engineering Road Show, now at city hall until April 24.

The road show is designed to educate and share with the public some of the province's exceptional engineering projects.

The exhibit consists of 49 posters featuring the entries from the 2012 Awards for Engineering Excellence.

All 49 projects can be viewed at www. acec-bc.ca/awards/awards-road-show along with brief videos. Vote for your favourite design in the inaugural People's Choice Award Winner.

The Minoru Aquatic Centre has been submitted in the building category - A New Era In Solar Energy. The city is saving money and reducing carbon emissions since it had installed a new and unique solar system at Minoru Aquatic Centre.
