The Sharing Farm and Terra Nova Nature School (TNNS) have cooked up a new program for families with an outdoor twist.

At the farm we have a beautiful outdoor pizza oven. Last fall, a group of students from a local baking program came and cooked pizza and galettes and I was hooked! Gathering around the fire watching the dough bake and then sitting out in the fields munching on delicious slices of fresh pizza was one of the highlights of my farm experience. It certainly beat shoveling compost in the rain!

The TNNS has offered family cooking classes in the past and they have been successful and fun so, determined to give this opportunity to as many people as possible, we dreamed up a new program that would involve families, community and incredible food.

Local Chef Nav Sidhuwill be leading two classes with us this spring. The first on Saturday, April 28 will be based around Indian cuisine, featuring curry, naan and roti. The second on Saturday, May 26 will be all about the wood-fired pizza.

The classes are designed for families, but if you don’t have kids you are still welcome to join, just bear in mind that they will be paced to accommodate children. We will taste some yummy things along the way, finishing with a lunch together.

Register for one or both days through the call centre (604-276- 4300) or online at www.richmond.ca. Classes are $25 per person, per class and are open to children age four and up, accompanied by an adult. Saturday, April 28 10:00am-12:30pm- #2507742 (Indian) Saturday, May 26 10:00am-12:30pm- #2507842 (Pizza)

TNNS is operated by Thompson Community Association and the City of Richmond.
