B.C. Seniors Advocate speaking at TALK event at Richmond KPU campus

Isobel Mackenzie was appointed as Canada's first Seniors Advocate in 2014.

BC Seniors Advocate Isobel Mackenzie will deliver a presentation on seniors’ issues in B.C. at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) next week.

Mackenzie will speak at Third Age Learning at Kwantlen (TALK)’s Annual General Meeting to present to TALK members about issues affecting seniors, such as affordability challenges, in the community on Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The presentation will be in-person at KPU’s Richmond campus and online via Zoom.

As the BC Seniors Advocate, Mackenzie has over 20 years of experience working with seniors in home care, licensed care, community services and over 6,000 seniors every year.

She led a project where a new model of dementia care became a national best practice as well as leading the first safety accreditation for homecare workers.

Among her many accolades, Mackenzie was recognized for work with seniors and was named BC CEO of the Year for the not-for-profit sector and was nominated as a provincial health care hero.

Before being appointed as the Seniors Advocate in 2014, Mackenzie served on several national and provincial boards and commissions.
