Richmond Hospital staff have continuously received support from the community, and during this past week, they received even more surprises from residents.

Rehana Ishmail, a Richmond Hospital staff, clocked off on Tuesday evening and was ready to head home when she was greeted by a giant note taped to a medical sandwich board and a bucket of tulips right next to it in front of the hospital.

The note read, “A thank you for all the staff at Richmond Hospital – please help yourself to a bunch of local grown tulips! Gratefully, a Richmond resident.”

Ishamil took the chance to share the kind act and a photo on Facebook.

“Leaving work after an exhausting long shift and came out to this surprise. Thank you to this kind soul for being so thoughtful” said the post.

Meanwhile, on April 22, another mysterious gentleman was spotted purchasing a $600 Starbucks gift card for hospital workers early in the morning.

Richmond News reader, who goes by the name of Kesar, emailed the News that they noticed the kind action while waiting in line at the Starbucks inside Richmond Hospital

“The gentleman paid for his orange juice and quietly left, but surprised many (Richmond General Hospital) staff with their morning buys paid for,” said Kesar, adding that the looks on the faces of the baristas working that morning was nothing but “big smiles.”

“This generous act of humble kindness deserves a shout-out for putting a smile on our faces in these difficult times.”

Angels Among Us is an on-going series dedicated to all the mysterious community members who have done acts of joy and optimism for others during a difficult time.
