Almost 100 dogs and their owners showed up in Steveston for the Christmas dog parade in 2022.

An adorable event is returning to Steveston this Sunday to celebrate the winter holidays.

Dogs — and their owners — are invited to show off their best holiday-themed costumes in a parade down the Steveston boardwalk.

The annual Steveston Holiday Dog Parade will take place on Sunday, Dec. 10 and owners are invited to join their four-legged friends in dressing up.

After the parade, participants are invited to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery where prizes will be given out and Santa will be posing for photos with dogs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Dogs must be leashed to participate and owners are asked to be cautious of the slippery boardwalk and either walk slowly or walk on paved areas. They are also asked to be aware in case their dogs are sensitive to ice melt.

Now in its second year, the parade saw almost 100 participants join its inaugural event last year, where dogs dressed up in festive outfits such as Santa suits and even Christmas trees.

The parade will start at 10:30 a.m. at the Phoenix Pond Bridge balloon arch and end at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery. Parking is provided at Westwater Drive off Railway Avenue in Britannia Shipyards.
