Great wines, tasty hors d'oeuvres, fabulous auction items and live entertainment - Does it get any better than that?

Richmond Sunset Rotary Club thinks not.

The 10th annual Vive Richmond is one of the club's premier fundraiser.

Set in the halls of Richmond City Hall, amongst Winter Wonderland's backdrop of glittery, stunning Christmas trees, Vive Richmond is a celebration of fine wines and tasty finger food.

"Over the years, we have had many compliments about the event and especially the auction items and wineries," said Linda Coyle, one of the organizers of this year's soiree. "New this year is beer - we had many people tell us over the years that they prefer beer to wine, so we will have some imported beer.

"First of all, people should come because Vive Richmond is fun, and because we raise money for our community."

Last year, more than 200 guests sipped, nibbled, mingled and opened their wallets to raise more than $8,000 for the rotary's many charitable partners, including Richmond Christmas Fund, Richmond Food Bank and the Rotary International's End Polio Now campaign.

"Besides that, our month-long Winter Wonderland trees campaign raises another $40 to $50,000 for our charities," she added.

Tickets are $60 and include wines from a number of different wineries, as well as hot and cold appetizers from the chefs at the Vancouver Airport Marriott. Vive Richmond happens Saturday, Dec. 3 from 7 to 10 p.m. (doors open at 6: 30 p.m.), in Richmond City Hall, 6911 No. 3 Rd. For tickets, to make a donation or to donate an auction item, call James Westmacott at 604-889-1119 or David Ip at 6047828267.
