Hundreds of party faithful descended on a hotel in Richmond on Sunday evening to give Andrew Scheer, accompanied by his family and introduced by Richmond Centre Conservative candidate Alice Wong, a final morale boost as Canadians head to the polls the next day.

Scheer reiterated his campaign promises of removing home-heating GST, reintroducing tax credits for kids sports, but some of the loudest cheers came when he said his first act as a prime minister would be to repeal the carbon tax.

Kenny Chiu and Wong joined other Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley Conservative candidates at the rally.

Four party leaders were in the Lower Mainland – NDP’s Jagmeet Singh, the Liberals’ Justin Trudeau and Green Party leader Elizabeth May.

Polls have shown the Liberals and Conservatives neck and neck in the federal election race.

Polls are open Monday, Oct. 21 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. To find your polling station, go to elections.ca.
