Conservatives' Wong regains seat

Incumbent Conservative MP Alice Wong retained her seat in the riding of Richmond Centre with a come from behind win over Liberal candidate Lawrence Woo. But it was close, as Elections Canada posted the final results with Wong getting 43.

Incumbent Conservative MP Alice Wong retained her seat in the riding of Richmond Centre with a come from behind win over Liberal candidate Lawrence Woo.

But it was close, as Elections Canada posted the final results with Wong getting 43.5 per cent of the vote.

Woo ended up with 42.3 per cent.

The two battled back and forth with Woo leading until around 9:20 p.m. when Wong edged ahead.

In the new riding of Steveston Richmond-East, former Tory, turned Liberal, Joe Peschisolido maintained his lead over the Conservatives' Kenny Chiu in second spot.
